A Journey to a
Wardrobe

I am on a journey of creating a me made wardrobe and boy has it tested my patience.
Sure you could say it’s easier to buy something basic off the rack but where is the fun in that?
The joy I feel while putting on a me made outfit always outways the frustrations that often come through the creation, and by then I’ve forgotten about all the headaches and I’m ready for the next garment.
It feels like magic slowly watching my creations fill my wardrobe. All the pieces I create I’ve curated, hand picked the material, pattern and specific design. I don’t stick with one medium either, I often have multiple projects on the go in different materialities.

Currently I am working on some Bobby Overalls by The Ordinary Folk, the Cloud Blouse by Petite Knit, and a self designed crochet cotton sweater. Sewing tends to be completed over the weekends, I sit down in the morning and often don’t move until the end of the day, engrossed in the sewing process. Whereas knitting and crochet is a slow paced craft that I tinker with during my evenings and whenever I have a short moment to kill.
Now that my me made wardrobe is growing, I have so many more combinations to choose from and sometimes I don’t realise I’ve picked a me made outfit until I’m out and about and that always gives me a little pep in my step.
This journey will continue and I am sure there will be some more triumphs and a lot more unpicking in my future!
